CT Christian History Tour at the Capitol
Wednesday, June 25th
from 11am-1pm
Historians Tom and Debbie Berrill of The Institute of Connecticut History, partner with WIHS to uncover the rich Christian legacy that turned the Connecticut Colony into the State of Connecticut!
From 1775 to 1783 Connecticut endured and prevailed through a terrible war for its independence from Great Britain.
It is little taught today the impetus for Connecticut to join the American Revolution was largely provided by the clergy. Their convictions convinced the people of Connecticut that their civil and religious liberties were worth fighting for.
You will hear the stories of how British expeditionary forces attacked Connecticut 3 times during the American Revolution. The people of Connecticut endured financial collapse and the death of hundreds of her sons yet maintained their courage and their faith in God and were victorious in the birth of a new liberty.
The Power Point Lecture will begin at 11 am followed by a tour of the statuary and tympana on the exterior of the Capitol Building – East Lobby in front of the Nathan Hale Statue – 210 Capitol Ave, Hartford
